The Board of Trustees and CEO, Jack Martin, of Providence Public Library (PPL) had bold plans for the "Think Again" Capital Campaign. The Campaign sought to raise $5 million from philanthropic sources to dramatically transform nearly every nook of the Library from the Info Commons space, to the Special Collections area, to a new Children's Library along with a Teen Library, and auditorium for public use. The $27 million renovation was an all hands-on-deck feat which literally reenergized the City of Providence with PPL as its rightful centerpiece.
What helped propel this project to success was not only the leadership of Jack Martin and his team, including Erica Busillo Adams, the dynamic Director of Development, but also the Board Chair, Robert Edwards, and our dedicated Campaign Leadership Committee that included Edwards, Dr. Kathleen Hittner, Robert Taylor, Maria Goncalves, and Sally Strachan. They shared Jack's vision of executing a dramatic physical transformation to make PPL a state-of-the-art learning center for use by all generations.
Partners in Philanthropy played a key role in organizing the efforts of the Campaign Leadership Committee in our outreach with lead charitable investors, where we strategized on individual philanthropists to engage, played a significant role in soliciting those investors, as well as outreached with corporations and and foundations to ask for major gift support. This was a true partnership where our efforts as a team resulted in the most amazing transformations of a building we have ever seen!
Well done PPL! We had an amazing experience working with you. Thank you for including us as part of this once-in-a-lifetime effort.
